Beltelecom presents the My City project at the International Telecommunication Union seminar in Minsk
Representatives of Beltelecom are taking part in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) seminar for the CIS countries, which is being held in Minsk on November 28 and 29. The experts focus on advanced technologies to support a sustainable, inclusive and accessible society.
The event brought together a wide range of participants: representatives of government bodies, international organizations, educational and scientific institutions, and public figures. The program includes the most relevant topics: social integration and employment of people with disabilities, issues of state social policy, trends in the development of modern technologies and the practice of their use, etc.
One of the most important objectives of the forum is to introduce practical cases that promote the accessibility of ICT and digital services for people with disabilities.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Konstantin Shulgan emphasized the importance of using new technologies to overcome barriers:
“There shall not be limited opportunities. People are in a certain life situation, and this situation shall not limit their participation in life. New technologies help remove boundaries, erase these restrictions.”
The Minister also noted that such seminars increase the literacy of both citizens and officials in the use of modern technologies.
Beltelecom presents the My City mobile application at the seminar, which helps improve the quality of life of citizens by making the urban environment more accessible. The project, implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus jointly with RUE Beltelecom, was successfully launched in February 2021 in Polotsk and currently covers 65 Belarusian cities, including the regional centers of Mogilev and Vitebsk. Another 9 cities are preparing to launch the application.
My City is a digital platform that provides interactive interaction of local residents with all city services. The application with a simple and clear interface provides access to the services of government organizations, healthcare and educational institutions, culture, trade, leisure and others. With its help, city residents can make an appointment with executive committees and other government organizations, ask questions and receive answers, order services, and leave feedback and suggestions, which helps improve the quality of services and increase the level of communication between city residents and government bodies.
The seminar will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with specific results of work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and will contribute to the creation of a sustainable, inclusive and accessible society.
The seminar is organized by the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector in partnership with the Belarusian State Academy of Telecommunications, the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus.
